Can data loss be prevented?

Easy measures can be taken to ensure that data loss does not happen to you. By simply backing up you data on an occasional basis, you can be sure that you will not lose your important data even if you drive fails, which is bound to happen to all electronic devices eventually.

What do I do if I have experienced data loss?

If your device has experienced failure, STOP using it immediately! By continuing to use your device it may acquire more damage and conclude in higher data recovery costs and a lower chance of recovering your data. The best thing to do in this situation is to call TTR Data Recovery right away or submit your case online in order to recover your data right away. Do not attempt to extract the hard drive yourself. A hard drive MUST be handled in a certified Cleanroom by experienced technicians like the ones at TTR in order to ensure that irreparable damage does not incur.

What is TTR’s Data Recovery Process?

Once you submit your case and ship/drop off your media to one of our office locations, TTR will contact you within 24-48 business hours with your free diagnostic. Additionally, TTR will provide a free cost estimate and let you know the approximate number of days we will need to work on the drive. There is no charge to approve the diagnostic and move on to the next step. When TTR receives your approval we will start the recovery process. How can I submit my case to TTR?

You can submit your case online at www.ttrdatarecovery.com. Once you fill out the online form you will automatically receive an email with your data recovery request form attached. You must print this form, sign and date it, and include it with your media when dropping it off or shipping it to us. Do I need to make an appointment with TTR?

It is not necessary to make an appointment with TTR before submitting your case or dropping off/shipping your media. You can drop off your media at any time during our business hours. However if you would like to first speak with a representative before submitting your case you may call our 24/7 customer service and we will be more than happy to assist you.

How do I ship my media to TTR?

You may visit our webpage or call for specific instructions on how to package and ship your media directly to us. Remember, you also have the option of dropping off your media in person at any one of our office locations. When shipping/dropping off your media please remember to include your Data Recovery Request Form signed and dated.

Does TTR provide Free Diagnostic?

Yes, the diagnostic of your media is 100% free. You will not be charged to approve the diagnostic nor will you be charged if you wish to decline the diagnostic.

What if I decide not to proceed with the recovery?

If you wish to cancel your recovery at any point please let your representative know so they can arrange for your media to be ready for pick up as soon as possible. There is no charge to decline the recovery at any point in the process.

At what point do I need to provide an External hard drive for transferring the data?

We must first see what the capacity of the recovered data is before the customer provides us with any external hard drive. External hard drives will also be available for purchase from TTR.

How will my Data be returned?

Depending on the capacity of the recovered data, we can burn it to any device which you prefer. For anything 20GB or less, we can transfer your data to a USB flash drive that we will provide to you free of cost. For anything more than that we will need to transfer it to a USB external hard drive, which you can provide to us if you wish or you may choose to purchase one directly from us.

Is it possible that my data is Unrecoverable?

There is always a chance that your media has experienced too much damage, either physically or logically, that has made any good data recovery impossible. However, TTR knows how devastating data loss can be to anybody and will always work as hard as we can to recover your data. Please keep our No Data No Charge policy in mind as well. If we cannot recover your data for any reason, TTR will ship your media back to you free of charge.

Does TTR keep a copy of my data?

We keep a backup of your data for 14 days on our secure servers to guard against shipping issues and other unexpected events. After 14 days, our engineers securely delete this data.


What is Logical Data Recovery?

What is Physical Data Recovery?

What are the most common causes of Physical Recovery?

Physical damage can be a result of the manufacturer’s defect, a physical impact such as a device being dropped or bumped while it is running or fire or water damage. The damaged chips or components manifest problems such as bad track, scratches on the platter, motor seizure, head crash and other malfunctioning components.


How much does TTR charge for data recovery services?

After evaluating your media and determining what type of failure your drive has incurred (Physical or Logical), the capacity of the damage to the drive, the brand of the drive, etc. we will provide you with our free cost estimate, which will vary depending upon these factors. Does the price include tax?

There is no tax for TTR data recovery services.

Will the price reflect how many files I want recovered?

We do not do selective data recovery. The price will not change if you do not need some of your data. We recover whatever can be recovered from your drive and then give it all back to you with one set price.

At what point do I need to pay?

An invoice will be sent to you once you approve the recovery list (list of recoverable data).You can pay with credit card through our secure online payment link.

Is there a charge to approve the diagnostic?

No, there is no charge to approve the diagnostic and move on to the next steps in the recovery process.

Do I need to pay anything if I don’t approve my diagnostic report?

No, we have a No Data No Charge Policy. If you choose to decline the recovery of your data please let your representative know so they can arrange for your media to be available for pick up at the same office you dropped it off, or shipped back to you.

Is there an additional charge for Rush or Emergency services?

Yes, there is an additional charge if you wish to utilize our Rush or Emergency services. Please ask your representative for pricing.

What are my payment options?

You have the option to pay by Credit card, Check, Money Order or Cashier’s check.

How long will the Diagnostic take?

Our diagnostic for each customer takes between 24 to 48 Business hours. However, emergency or rush diagnostic services will take just a couple of hours.

How long will the Recovery take?

The answer to this question is specific to each case. The Standard Service (No Additional Cost) is between 10-15 business days for logical recovery. However, for an additional charge, TTR provides Emergency Recovery services to recover your data ASAP.

What is Standard Service Recovery?

If you are not at any rush to have your data back or you do not wish to be charged additional fees for your recovery job you will need to approve our Standard service Recovery. Standard Service Recovery is the most common data recovery service available.

What is Emergency Service Recovery?

If your data recovery is time sensitive and you would like to have your data recovered ASAP you will need to approve your case for Emergency Service Recovery in order to have your data back as quickly as possible. How long will it take to transfer my data to the new drive?

Transferring your data to your new drive will depend on the capacity of your recovered data. Usually data transfer takes between 1-3 business days.

Recovery List

What is a Recovery List?

A Recovery List is simply a list of recovered items that you will receive after you approve the diagnostic, between 10-15 business days with standard service. When we finish with the recovery we will get back to you with your recovery list; you can then see which data is recoverable (Good Data) and which data is not recoverable (Bad Data).

If the data I’m looking for has not been recovered do I still need to pay?

No, you will not pay anything if you wish to decline the recovery list. We Have a No Data No Charge Policy.

After I approve the recovery list how do I get my recovered data?

It depends on the capacity of recovered data, if your data is less than 10GB capacity we can burn it to a DVD, but if you have more than 10GB of data you will need to provide us with a USB External hard drive for transfer. If you already have an external hard drive that you would like to use, you may send it to us. Hard drives will also be available for purchase from TTR.
